Fall arrest system is formulated for support and holding person working on high level, on the event of accidental fall. It is designed to safeguard a person working at heights and it is not a work position system. Fall arrest is considered for prevention safety technique for a person accidental falling from height, and doesn't stop prevent fall.

Minimising the potential fall distance

• While using fall arrest system, the potential free-fall distance must be below 2 mts.
• Energy-absorbing lanyards along with inertia reels must not be used, since it can increase the distance of fall before the fall gets arrested.
• There must be a sufficient distance in-between the work surface, as well as below the surface in-order; to enable system – include shock absorber action, to deploy.
